CCDI Benchmarking survey tool

Background

University of St. Gallen’s Diversity Benchmarking program is collecting and analyzing diversity and inclusion key performance indicators for more than 10 years. They offer their services to companies from any sector with at least 100 employees. Main findings of studies run in the topic show that diversity and an open corporate culture are important drivers of innovation and successful collaboration. Mixed teams perform better in innovation processes. University of St. Gallen has asked Evista to digitize the whole business and research process.

Challenges

The detailed data analysis is preceded by a complex process where companies transmit their HR data to the university in order to get  benchmarking report that compares all participating companies based on gender, age,  nationality, language, level of employment and education . Our goal was to create a transparent online process where each participants can easily complete their task and where data security is at the highest level.

Solution

Evista chose to develop a single web-based application for administration interface and end-user frontend. This app is commonly used by the applicant companies and by the professionals at the university where the user’s permission level defines the available functionalities. As it was required to provide a future-proof solution for the online process we have evaluated the appropriate technologies that are recently elaborated and frequently maintained. We created a nestjs back-end connected to the next.js front-end and used graphql for database connection.

The first iteration of the project included a full UX design process. After analyzing the needed functionalities for all user types Evista provided design for the web application and the website of the program.

This latter was developed by our WordPress team.

The system provides an easy to use multi-step interface for applicant companies to enter their data and users are notified on all operations to be completed by a built-in notification system.

To fulfill the high resource and security demand of the system we use a containerized environment at AWS. For the sufficient handling of files we implemented a MS Sharepoint integration to the user interface: companies only need to enter their Sharepoint link to submit the data extracted from their HR system. Data is automatically transferred to AWS’s S3 storage we chose for CDN.
