Julearn administration system and mobile app

Background

Juventus Language Group is specialised in language courses offered to organisations. They offer online, onsite and e-learning courses as well. Earlier, Evista was involved in the development of their own e-learning platform and this time we were asked to take over of their development of language course administration tool and to complete it with an easy-to-use mobile application.

Challenges

Juventus needed a flexible administration system for their courses where they can manage student groups – employees of a company they are contracted with – teachers and courses. And they also needed a tool to administer the completion of a course.
They started the backend development in-house and Evista was responsible for the front end development. As the project progressed their resources proved to be insufficient, so we covered backend developments as well.

Solution

We kept php as the technology choice for backend and developed the administration system frontend in Nuxt, a Vue.js based Javascript framework.
In the new system administrators can register companies and employees (future students) and their courses, then a teacher is also allocated. All other users can users the Julrearn mobile app:
Teachers can add events to the course calendar and can distribute course codes when starting a lesson. Students can register after an invitation mail from the administrator and can verify their presence on the course by entering the received code. And HR managers can see the statistics of the courses.
We used the trusted ionic framework for the mobile application allowing us to deliver the same experience for IOS and Android. We developed one single app where users can only access the interfaces defined for their user group. All these development supplemented with a document generator and a notification system allow Julearn a seamless working of their online language course ecosystem.
