DPD middleware

Background

DPD is a leading actor of the parcel delivery markent in Hungary and Europe. DPD is committed to the digital technology to give the best experience in sending and receiving parcels. Their services assure the best information flow and flexibility in the parcel delivery sector. We have been invited to the DPD technology renewal process within our cooperation with Capgemini.

Challenge

DPD provides to e-commerce partners with a full-service API package called Weblabel that covers the entire lifetime of delivering a parcel form adding recipient information to the completed status of a successfully delivered package.
They decided to renew this information service while ensuring their commercial partners need only execute minor level technology changes in their their systems where the current Weblabel service is integrated.

Solution

To maintain the functionalities and technologies used by DPD’s 1.500+ partners countrywide. It has been decided that a middleware is to be developed between the renewed DPD systems and the existing Weblabel.
This middleware that we created with Laravel php framework can gather information provided by Weblabel and transform them on the fly to be trasmitted to the client’s new shipping application and database. A seamless connection between MySql and PostgreSQL databases is also established.
