Glød Light Festival website

Background

Glød (glow) light festival is held in January in the historic city center of Stavanger, the third largest city in Norway, built partially on several islands situated next to the seaside. It pretends to be a new tradition in the city life, it is organized for the first time in 2024. The festival offers a unique break from the dark winter and experience magical moments.
We have been involved to this project for a role of technology partner by Melvaer & Co, a Norwegian member of Community for Europe.

Challenges

The festival website should serve as a first point of contact for tourists, sponsors and light artists as well. The site needed to present the basics of a newly established series of events and make visitors curious to attract more people to the festival.

Solution

We developed a Worpress website playing on light and darkness: the design team created an interface where light and dark sections come in succession while scrolling down the page and the dark surface is always broken with a glowing element: a custom Javascript animation.
The goal of effectively communicate to different audiences is reflected by a single-page like structure: all target groups can reach their dedicated information center from the main menu bar and can scroll through the content.
Tourists and citizens are invited to request more information via email, potential sponsors are served with an opportunity to participate in community life and a sponsor display is presented on all pages.
The open call section is dedicated to the 2025 event: artist, designers are invited to participate to the next edition of the festival with their light art project.
